Aaron Sahlman, a junior at Newbury Park High in California, finished second in the Doug Speck boys varsity sweepstakes race, covering the 3-mile course in 13:42.2 to help Newbury Park prevail by a 25-190 margin against Great Oak at the 40th Woodbridge Cross Country Classic presented by ASICS at SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco, Calif. Sahlman ran the third-fastest time in meet history, all belonging to Newbury Park athletes. Sahlman helped Newbury Park produce new meet record for lowest score by the sweepstakes champion with 35 points and the fastest team time with 69:30.9.
