Sydney Sundgren, a junior at Buchanan High in California, placed fifth in the Bob Day girls varsity sweepstakes race, covering the 3-mile course in 16:03.3 at the 40th Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, presented by ASICS, at SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco, Calif. Sundgren, who ran 17:00.7 in 2019 as a freshman in her Woodbridge debut, helped Buchanan place third overall with 136 points.
